Principal's Message

Mrs. Carbonell's Monthly Message

Season’s Greetings, Dragon Families!,

I hope everyone was able to make it to Parent Teacher Conferences.  I’d  like to thank all of the volunteers that support our students and staff. I’d also like to invite each of you to follow the volunteer process which was sent home with your child the week before Thanksgiving break so you too many volunteer in your child’s class.   The volunteer process is also on the VCUSD website.  On any given day, you can walk through our building and see parents and relatives hanging art work in the hallways, making copies, sorting worksheets, or assisting with special events. Your contributions and support are what makes our school and community so special, and you are making a difference in the lives of our children. On behalf of the students and staff at Federal Terrace, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all you do.

We would like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season and Happy New

Year! We look forward to the start of the New Year! As always, if you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.

We at Federal Terrace are committed to be in contact with you monthly, weekly, and in some cases daily.  You can expect the following types of communication, a monthly principal notice, a weekly classroom notice from your child’s teacher, and phone calls home via an all call system.  In order for communication to happen more effectively you should look through your child’s backpack, daily.  It is also imperative that you maintain your phone number, and address current with the office staff.

We will begin our robotics club on December 5th in the STEAM LAB (P-3) for all interested 4th and 5th graders.  The Club will meet every Tuesday after that during the upper grade lunch.

A tardy is defined as arrival to class after the first ten (10) minutes of the class period. Arrival to class 10 to 29 minutes after the bell will constitute as excessive tardy. Arrival to class 30 minutes or later is truant. Excessive tardy students will receive a verbal warning and other steps as defined by the site’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports guidelines.

E.C. 48260 (a) Any pupil who is absent from school without valid excuse three full days in one school year or tardy or absent for more than any 30  minute period during the school day without a valid excuse on three occasions in one school year, or any combination thereof, is a truant.

Lost and Found

Please label all clothing items, backpacks, and lunch boxes with your child’s name, grade and teachers name. If an item has been misplaced, students are encouraged to check the lost and found bin located in the main hallway across from room 21. Unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the winter break, and at the end of the school year.  We also strongly discourage you from sending your child to school wearing expensive jackets, baseball hats, or other costly items.  The staff of Federal Terrace cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Traffic SAFETY

I am expecting your complete cooperation in keeping our children safe by adhering to all traffic postings and these additional safety rules:  DO NOT PARK OR LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED IN THE RED ZONES ON DANIELS AVE, this is a bus pick up and drop off zone.  Your car will be towed away. Rodgers ST is a ONE-WAY street; please adhere to this traffic rule.
